West Linn, Oregon is a beautiful city nestled on the Willamette River between Portland and Salem. It was first settled in 1829, when Dr. Robert Moore established the West Linn Iron Works to manufacture nails and other products from iron ore he mined nearby. But it wasn’t until 1845 that West Linn officially became an incorporated town after gaining their first post office and school.
Since then, West Linn has kept up with the times while still preserving its small-town charm. In 1890, many of its streets were widened for increased traffic and modern sewer systems were installed. And in 1950s, newly developed housing tracts looked promising as more people moved to the area. Even today, many of the original houses still stand and make up a large portion of West Linn’s real estate.
But West Linn isn’t all just about history. While it does have its fair share of old-fashioned charm, it has also kept up with modern times. It boasts a vibrant community full of festivals and events throughout the year, as well as plenty of outdoor activities to explore in nearby Willamette Park and Mary S Young Park. Plus, with its proximity to Portland, there are plenty of restaurants and shops to explore too! All in all, West Linn is the perfect place for an outdoor enthusiast or a history buff alike – no matter what you’re looking for! So come on out to West Linn and see what it is all about.
