Pearl District – Urban Modern Loft
Allison’s friend-turned-client had a dream of owning a downtown loft, but thus far had not been able to find “the one.” Enter: this loft, which was incredibly outdated but had a spectacular view of the city that was just too good to pass up.
Having reservations about working closely with a friend on something like this, the client initially approached a different designer. The other designer insisted that the loft needed to be taken down to the studs in a complete remodel. This was disappointing and daunting news to the new loft owner. She decided to seek another opinion, and came to us.
Allison started by asking her what she loved about the place. The client identified that she loved the Brazilian cherry floors and unique cabinetry. Using these features as a jumping off point, we sought to modernize it by bringing in quartz for the countertops (of which there are many), neutral draperies to soften, and fresh paint to brighten. Then to add color and funk, we invested in new furniture and accessories.
Although this client had a vision and many ideas of her own, throughout the project she leaned in to the process and learned to trust the design team – which resulted in something even better than she imagined.
