Oregon State Credit Union and Allison Smith Design Collaborate on Inspired Spaces

Oregon State Credit Union (OSCU) is partnering with Portland-based firms Allison Smith Design and Lorentz Bruun Construction to construct their newest location in Wilsonville, highlighting the power of local collaboration and community connection.

This initiative brings together Oregon professionals who share a deep commitment to quality, integrity, and service. By working with local partners, OSCU continues to invest in the people and businesses that make Oregon communities thrive.

“The best part of this project is that it brings together Oregon talent to create something meaningful for Oregon members,” said Jim Gibson, Chief Operations Officer for OSCU.  “In a world where so much happens virtually, it’s refreshing to collaborate in person with local experts who understand our communities firsthand.”

Erik Bruun, Principal of Lorentz Bruun Construction, added: “Working with local vendors, subcontractors, and designers made this project special. Everyone pulled together to meet a tight timeline, and the result is something we can all be proud of, built by Oregonians, for Oregonians.”

Allison Smith Design, known for its timeless, functional interiors and Oregon-inspired storytelling, has worked closely with OSCU to craft a Northwest-inspired aesthetic. The design incorporates Pacific Northwest tones and textures, including cobalt blue, symbolizing stability, and warm cedar, representing strength and durability.

“Our work is always rooted in collaboration and local influence,” said Allison Smith, founder and principal designer. “Partnering with Oregon State Credit Union and other local businesses felt like a natural extension of that. Together, we’re creating spaces that truly reflect the communities they serve.”

A Shared Oregon Legacy

Oregon State Credit Union has a history that reaches back to 1954 and has grown from humble roots, and one man’s vision, to be one of the largest state-chartered credit unions in Oregon. Their mission has always been to serve the unique needs of their members with integrity and ingenuity. Even as OSCU has expanded to serve over 150,000 members across nearly 30 counties, their values have remained deeply local.

Allison Smith Design, founded in Portland, Oregon, has a similarly enduring story. With decades of experience in both residential and commercial design, Allison Smith has built a reputation for understanding the soul of a space, and designing with purpose, elegance, and a Northwest sensibility. Allison’s approach is holistic, collaborative, and rooted in storytelling, much like the Oregon State Credit Union’s commitment to understanding the lives and needs of its members.

Designing for People, Not Just Spaces

Commercial design isn’t just about choosing the right carpet or wall color. It’s about creating environments where employees, visitors, and members feel welcome, supported, and valued. The new Oregon State Credit Union design is elevated, yet welcoming, with careful attention paid to every detail. The mood board draws inspiration from Pacific Northwest tones and textures, including cobalt blue, known as a symbol of stability, as well as a rich cedar signifying strength and durability.

A Vision for the Future

In a time when national brands and impersonal service often dominate, it’s refreshing when local institutions come together in the spirit of community, craftsmanship, and shared values. This is exactly what is happening with this exciting new collaboration
