Friday Spotlight: Split-Level Country Home
This week I’d like to highlight a project that involved breathing new life into an outdated country home. The homeowner has a beautiful collection of quilts, antiques, and some very unique pieces acquired over the years. Including these sentimental pieces in the design was imperative for creating a look that is both fresh and personal. This major overhaul was done in stages, starting with adding hardwood floors in a rich cherry tone. The hardwoods continued into the kitchen where we gave the countertops a beautiful dark slab stone, offset by a warm bronze finish on the cabinets. The kitchen island gives the room a welcoming feel and provides space for entertaining. A pair of gorgeous, rustic chandeliers were the finishing touch for this farm-style space.
Moving into the living room, we were able to work with a lot of existing pieces. This room is a great example of Decorate With What You Own with a little extra thrown in. Rearranging, repurposing, and placing furniture in a way that creates a cozy, livable space, was key in keeping with the country theme. A stone fireplace is the focal point of this family gathering space. Pops of color with bright coral pillows and lampshades are just the thing to keep this room feeling fresh and new.
Next week we’ll show you how we transformed their master bathroom into a spa-like retreat. Stay tuned!
