ASD Journey

Allison Smith has 30 years of experience designing homes in the Portland area and beyond. We are a full-service interior design studio providing large and small remodeling, new-build design, custom furniture, commercial projects (new and remodeled), and custom design palettes.

Allison has been working in and around Beijing since 2006 when she completed a western-themed mock town outside the Great Wall called Jackson Hole.  In 2018, she was brought back to Beijing to create a rodeo-themed bar and restaurant on the 26th floor of an Armani/Casa building in the financial district.

For commercial, restaurants, and residential projects, Allison Smith Design manages every aspect of the design process. From material selection, floor plan adjustments, project management, to custom furniture design, and all the way down to accessory placement. Each project is unique and catered to by our design team and trusted contractors.

Carissa Laub – Design Assistant

Carissa is a Midwest transplant, coming to us from Bloomington, IL. She has a degree in fashion merchandising which has given her a keen eye for all things design. Before joining ASD, she worked for an interior design firm in the Chicago area. Her deep project management experience serves our clients well by ensuring no detail is missed.

She’s hooked on transformation and loves seeing how projects come together from start to finish. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking with her husband, running, and fashion.

Amy Schultz – Design Assistant

Originally from Coeur d’Alene, ID, Amy has landed at ASD through a less traditional design route! She has a degree in philosophy but is currently working on her MFA in interior architecture and design. She last worked for California Closets, which gave her invaluable experience in translating client wants into desired results.

She is enamored with Spanish Revival style and gets excited about projects that allow her to combine old and new through implementing green design into historic spaces. In her spare time, she enjoys yoga, her dog, and reading good books.
