Design Process

Hiring the right interior designer for your project is a huge decision – and it’s one that we believe should be a two-way street. While you evaluate the skills, abilities and style of a design firm, the prospective firm should also be working hard to determine if your project falls well into the range of their abilities. From the first time your reach out to us to the completion of your project, we want the process to be smooth.

This is what you can expect when working with Allison Smith Design.

In-Person Consultation.

One of our senior design consultants will meet with you in your home to take a tour, learn about you and how you live, and review all the project requirements. Interior Decorating

Our team brings your style dreams to life through things like selecting a color palette, custom furniture, textiles, upholstery, art, accessories, and lighting. When decorating only, there is no construction or remodeling, but we design a layout for your existing space, determine the placement and flow of all the decor, shop and order all items, and complete the final installation.

Remodeling projects come in all shapes and sizes, from expanding a small kitchen, to taking an entire home down to the studs and dreaming up a new layout. When remodeling, we cover all the details from small to great, like where your electrical outlets will go, to plumbing, lighting, and considering the overall flow and layout. According to your design vision, we will select and source all the finishes, fixtures, and appliances. Finally, we will manage the day-to-day tasks with the contractors, keeping your dreams on track.

New Construction

When you build a custom home there are a plethora of decisions that need to be made. We can work with your builder or architect to make sure your design vision is executed perfectly. Starting with your overall design concept, we break it down to the smallest detail. The details are what really make design sing, so we handle material selection, fixtures, lighting and even millwork. We manage communication between all the contractors to ensure that the result is exactly what you wanted.

Commercial Interior Design

Commercial projects are all about being attentive to how your employees, visitors and/or customers engage with your physical location. We take the time to understand the relationship between each of these important groups, plan functional and intentional spaces, and select materials, colors and finishes that enhance your brand. We have a wide variety of commercial experience including civic, hospitality, office, multi-dwelling units, and retail spaces.
